YOUTH VOLUNTEER INFORMATION & OPPORTUNITIES

June 6, 2013

The Ronald McDonald House staff is thrilled to have individuals of all ages volunteer for our House.  Many area students fulfill their community service requirements through our organization and frequently, youth groups complete a day of service at our House.  "This is the most amazing place to spend your time!  I couldn't ask for a more perfect volunteer place!  The families are amazing and inspiring, and the image of perserverence!  I love RMH!" - P. Osby, 17.

Volunteers who are age 15 or older can volunteer in the House without additional supervision needed.  Those under the age of 15 can choose from the volunteer opportunities listed below.  The PARENT of the child under the age of 15 MUST call to schedule the child for Tour & Orientation.  Our hope is that your child learns the value of serving those in need around their community!

FOR THOSE UNDER THE AGE OF 15: Parents - please plan to attend, with your child, a mandatory Tour & Orientation. There are currently 2 Tours & Orientations scheduled; the first is scheduled for Thursday, June 20 from 4:30 to 5:30pm, and the second is scheduled for Thursday, July 11 from 4:30 to 5:30pm.  The Tour & Orientation will count as one hour towards the required hours for his/her project.  After that, your child may earn hours in the following ways:

1 pound of aluminum (pop tabs or aluminum cans) = 1 hour

2 old cell phones or used ink cartridges for recycling =1 hour

·        Coming in to bake 1 dozen baked goods (please, no store-bought) = 1hour

·        Preparing a full meal for our families (an entrée, 1-2 sides, a bread, and a dessert) = 4 hours

·        Comng in to prepare a HOMEMADE (NOT a frozen casserole purchased from a store) casserole we can freeze and use at a later date = 2 hours

·        Donating items from our “Needs List” (1 hour/$5 with a cap of 3hours) which can be found on our web site at www.rmhcwga.org.
