*House Services Support Volunteer*

Our House Services Volunteers make our Houses feel like a “home-away-from-home.”
As a House Service Volunteer you will greet guests and volunteers, answer phones, and on occasion give tours.
Additionally this position will include working off a checklist to ensure that the House is well-stocked and tidy, disinfecting and organizing communal areas, and sorting donations.

Requirements:

This position requires physical activity and volunteers may be required to be on their feet for the duration of the 2-3 hour weekly shift.

House Services Volunteers maintain a set schedule of 2 to 3 hour shifts weekly or biweekly.
House Services Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and commit to at least 6 months of service, subject to our needs.
You will also be required to check in for your shift on SignUp.com

Responsibilities:
Greeting families and visitors
Answer and/ or direct incoming telephone calls and assist visitors
Accept donations and record information
Be a helpful and understanding listener, but not a counselor, to families
Perform guest orientation/ House Tours
Provide general assistance, service and support activities to all guests
Perform daily House operations tasks as needed
Assist with special events, projects and fundraising
Assist with promoting community awareness of RMHC

Qualifications:
Ability to deal with public, staff and other volunteers in a helpful and supportive manner.
Understand and practice confidentiality
Able to perform light housekeeping and office tasks
Neat and clean appearance
Demonstrate responsibility to uphold House policies

Training:
Initial interview with Volunteer Coordinator
Attend orientation in house
Clear background check
Shadow an experienced volunteer for two shifts of hands on training
Continuous learning through on the job experience

This is a Sunday – Saturday opportunity with 2 shifts per day. Our shift times are Sunday through Saturday 10:00 – 1:00 and 1:00 – 4:00.

 

 

*Ronald McDonald Family Room Volunteer*

Family Room Volunteers help provide families at the Ronald McDonald House Family Room with a pleasant and comfortable environment by assisting staff with daily operations of the room and by providing support to the families as needed.

Family Room Volunteers must attend hospital orientation, get a 2 step PPD test and flu shot during flu season.

Assist families as needed
Answer family inquiries
Maintain cleanliness of Family Room
Ensure supplies are stocked and well maintained

Training:

Attend orientation at Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital
Clear background check
Schedule health screening, obtain 2 step PPD test, and flu shot during flu season
Shadow an experienced volunteer for one shift of hands on training
Continuous learning through on the job experience

This is a 24/7 opportunity.

*Meals from the Heart*

Provide a well-balanced meal to warm the hearts of our families when they return from a long day at the hospital. This program is for individuals and groups with a maximum of 10 volunteers.

*Yellow Shoe Crew Volunteen Program*

The Yellow Shoe Crew consists of community teenagers who have demonstrated excellence in leadership and community service. Members participate in bi-monthly meetings, fundraising events, volunteering opportunities, community outreach and other opportunities as defined by RMHC staff.

*House Helpers*

 

House Helpers support the house through donations, pop tab and recycling drives and fundraising. House Helpers is a great program to be involved in if you are a youth looking to earn volunteer hours.

Options:

House Helpers – Pop Tab and Recycling Drives:

Collect pop tabs or aluminum cans, old cell phones and small ink cartridges and bring them to the house. We recycle them and then use the funds for house operations!

One service hour per pound of aluminum. One service hour per 2 cell phones or small ink cartridges.

 

House Helpers – Wish List Team:

Our wish list team donates items off any of our wish lists! You can earn service hours through these donations as well! One hour credit earned per $5.00 spent on wish list items.

Bake cookies, brownies and more!

One service hour earned per dozen.

 

House Helpers – Casserole Club:

Prepare nourishing casseroles to be stored in the freezer and served as needed.

Please bring in disposable 9″ x 13″ oven safe pan. Seal it well with aluminum foil.

Please write on a label or on the lid what the casserole is, the date, and re-heating instructions.

Two service hours earned per casserole.
